What is it.
This evidence-based policy brief provides actionable insights to strengthen coordinated responses to repeated allegations of child abuse and neglect during parental separation, divorce, and family court proceedings. It provides an overview of three major response areas in need of attention, with policy recommendations to reduce unnecessary investigations, strengthen continuity of care for children, and reduce cumulative harm to the child.
How can it help me?
CYACs can use this policy brief to inform conversations with government, funders, and community partners to advocate for system-level change. The recommendations draw on extensive research and multidisciplinary expertise from Kindex, developed in collaboration with CYACs across Canada. They provide practical, actionable recommendations to strengthen system responses and improve outcomes for children who are stuck in the middle of repeated unsubstantiated reports of abuse and neglect during parental conflict.
